Mart Enn Koppel

We advise clients in all aspects of Intellectual Property Law in Estonia, in the European Union and, through a network of partners, worldwide. Our team is lead by Mart Enn Koppel. He was joined by Anniki Meister in September 2004 and by Tanel Õunapuu in March 2011.# Mr. Koppel is both Estonian and European Patent, Trade Mark and Design Attorney. He is also admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, USA. He has a degree in electrical engineering from Tallinn University of Technology (corresponds to MSEE) as well as JD and MIP (Master of Intellectual Property) degrees from Franklin Pierce Law Center (now University of New Hampshire), one of the top IP law schools in the USA. He has completed a European patent litigation course at CEIPI (University of Strasbourg). He is also an epi tutor. Mr. Koppel started his own practice after having worked for more than 10 years in the field. He worked in Estonian Patent Office as a patent examiner and as the head of PCT group. He has also worked in one of the leading Estonian Patent Law Firms for 5 years. He has also worked in a leading US intellectual property law firm.
We focus on advising foreign clients in all aspects of intellectual property law in Estonia and in filing European patent applications. For the US clients, we provide an additional advantage due to our knowledge of US Intellectual Property Law. Our areas of expertise also include European trademark law and practice and International trademark registration practice under Madrid System.
Our clients include both large multi-national corporations and start-ups. Our aim is to grow with our clients, satisfying their needs for legal advice in both Estonia, and in cooperation with foreign associates, in other jurisdictions. We have particularly close cooperation with the US, German, Latvian, Russian, and Finnish law firms.
