Jay is the managing partner of the Firm. He is highly skilled in the fields of taxation, corporate re-structuring, corporate acquisitions, cross-border transactions, and IT- related industries.
Jay is the lead counsel of the Firm in all tax-related cases, such as tax assessments, tax collections and VAT refund from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (“BIR”) level, up to the Court of Tax Appeals and Supreme Court. He likewise assists clients in processing the requests for confirmatory ruling before the BIR Law Division and BIR International Tax Affairs Division.
He has successfully handled several corporate acquisitions and corporate-structuring projects, from the corporate and tax advisory and planning, up to the implementation stage.
Jay’s practice in IT-related industries is both a passion and a profession, having co-founded several IT companies himself. He is the Chief Legal Counsel and co-founder of Pearlpay Inc., Codevelopr, Inc. and Unosoft Labs, Inc. He is likewise the legal counsel of Asia Blockchain and Crypto Association (“ABACA”) Fintech Group.
He assists fintech Companies in highly-regulated licensing process before the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (“BSP”) and Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (“CEZA”). He likewise assists clients in the registration with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (“PEZA”) and the Board of Investments (“BOI”).
Jay is part of the worldwide network of young professionals committed to developing better and livable cities. In 2020, he was appointed as one of the legal counsels of Good City Foundation Limited, a regional multilateral development organization headquartered in Hong Kong SAR, and organizer of annual Future City Summit (https://www.futurecitysummit.org). The Foundation provides for a platform to connect new generation of leaders from public and private sectors in emerging cities.
Jay earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from San Beda University, Manila in 2010 and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2011. He took Bachelor of Arts major in Political Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
