Lourdes M. Slater

Lourdes M. Slater is a partner at Grais & Ellsworth and focuses her practice on discovery management. She gives advice to private and government clients on all aspects of data identification, preservation, collection, review, production, and presentation at trial. Ms. Slater brings to this practice niche her experience as a litigator in complex civil cases with multimillion-document collections and productions, and in handling complex discovery disputes. Her expertise also includes privacy law and compliance, including implementing the appropriate procedures to handle and secure data implicating personally identifiable information (PII) in compliance with state and federal regulations in and out of the litigation context. She has also advised clients on the European Data Privacy Protection Act and its application in US actions. #

Prior to her current position, Ms. Slater worked with a team representing the Securities Investor Protection Corporation’s appointed Trustee in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. Her role was to oversee the collection, preservation and production of data from the liquidated company, as well as to oversee the service, tracking, and multifaceted discovery issues arising out of the 1,000 + actions filed by the Trustee.

In her practice of over 20 years, Ms. Slater has litigated in state and federal courts, and in domestic and international arbitrations. She has also written extensively on the topic of ESI.
