Matthew Magare is the managing partner of the firm. Matthew’s practice areas include general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and project finance. He has previously worked in Kenya’s leading firms, Bowmans (Coulson Harney) and Mohammed Muigai Advocates. He has also worked as a secondee in the magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, London (UK).
Matthew also sits on several boards, including Afza Capital, Hewa Tele Limited and the Center for Public Health and Development and is the Chairperson of the Mandela Washington Fellows Alumni Association.
He has worked on notable transactions, including:
- Advising a multinational technology company on the closing of debt and equity agreements in excess of USD 40m
- Advised a client on Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) investment guarantees in relation to a road project in Kenya.
- Advised GE Foundation Partners on a public-private partnership for the building, operation and transfer of oxygen plants across 5 counties in Kenya
- Supported several startups in investor due diligence for capital raises in excess of USD 40m
